Literacy

Bibleworld allows children and young people the opportunity to discover just how much the Bible has impacted and influenced the development of literacy throughout history.  From the very earliest times it led the way for other forms of literature to develop. We look at the spoken and written word, the printing press, modern media and ever-creative means of continuing the Bible’s journey into different cultures and languages around the world.

From ancient communication to the most modern, we explore how literature and communication link into and around the Bible. We explore the historical art of story telling – from the oral to the written; the use of prose and poetry; the use of metaphor and allegory; the use of media, ancient and modern; and the communication challenges for the future.

We make every effort to harness the imagination and creativity of children and young people by delivering structured activities and programmes through interactive and direct teaching.  We will encourage children and young people to think both independently and collaboratively by using texts that are interesting and appropriate for effective learning.  All of the texts that we use will link in some way to the Bible or its message, but will also include modern and relevant backdrops for moral and religious education.
